The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for performing the full cycle, end-to-end payroll and benefits functions for Dr. Oetker Canada Ltd. This position will be fully responsible for accurate and timely processing of all Canadian payroll and benefits activities.

Your Future:

  • Independently manage full cycle, end-to-end payrolls for all positions in both unionized and non-unionized environments.
  • Process payroll for hourly, salaried, and contract employees within various pay cycles.
  • Onboard, offboard, and maintain current employee data within the ADP WFN system.
  • Manage pension and benefit accounts, including registrations, updates, deductions, contributions, reconciliations, and filing of third-party contributions and premiums.
  • Prepare and post journal entries into the general ledger via SAP.
  • Reconcile payroll deduction and contribution accounts within the general ledger.
  • Partner with the Payroll & Benefits Manager and the People & Culture Team to support projects, efficiency initiatives, compliance, and reporting.
  • Respond to payroll and benefit-related inquiries.

Your Strengths:

  • Professional payroll designation, with PCP preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with ADP WorkforceNow preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of legislative compliance.
  • Experience with payroll processing and policy compliance in a unionized environment.
  • Some SAP experience.
  • Good systems acumen.
  • Excellent communicator, aware of appropriate internal and external interactions.
  • Accounting experience (accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations) preferred.
  • Team-oriented with personal accountability.
  • 5+ years of payroll and benefits processing experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle large volumes with attention to detail within strict timelines.
  • Awareness of compliance with policies and legislative requirements.
  • Problem-solving skills with initiative to correct issues.
  • Ability to work independently and utilize available resources effectively.
