Job description

GCT is the operator of the largest container terminal in the country and one of the largest employers in the maritime sector. We have an opportunity for an Asset Management Coordinator within our Maintenance Department at GCT. This position will be based at our Vanterm Terminal but may be required to work at Deltaport location occasionally.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Support, you will be responsible for supporting the Asset Management processes at Vanterm, including but not limited to the following :

  • Management of Vanterm Terminal Asset Listing :

Maintain and update the Vanterm Terminal asset listing, ensuring accurate records of all asset data and specifications.

  • Collaborate with relevant teams to track asset status, maintenance schedules, and lifecycle information.
  • Development and maintenance of Assetwise on-line data collection links.
  • Reliability Program management :

Update PM content based on direction from Superintendents and Reliability

  • Manage document control of PMs.
  • Manage work order triggering rules.
  • Manage asset indicators.
  • Manage compliance reporting.
  • Audits :

Carry out periodic audits on asset and work management practices and documentation.

  • Asset Performance Monitoring :

Support the supers and foremen with the roll out of downtime collection process (paper & digital).

  • Carry out audits and provide feedback on downtime data quality.
  • Work with IT and Engineering on development of IoT / SCADA / Data Warehouse projects.
  • Process Improvement :

Assist in identifying areas for standardization and implementation of new technologies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements.
  • Develop, document, and implement standardized Asset Management best practices.
  • Assetwise Superuser and on-site support :

Be an onsite Assetwise superuser for Vanterm to provide training and assistance to forepersons and staff.

  • Provide support and training to staff and foremen for new technology such as mobile tablets and Power BI reports.
  • Power BI Superuser and on-site support :

Become a Power BI superuser.

  • Creation of reports and developing links to data sources.
  • Training Records :

Maintain training records for maintenance personnel.

  • Support the Superintendents with organizing training sessions and certifications as needed.
  • Budgeting and Reporting :

Facilitate the preparation of the annual Maintenance Department budget for both terminals

  • Create and update weekly and monthly departmental reports
  • Administrative Vacation Coverage :

Provide occasional administrative support during vacation periods for all VT positions such as time sheet review and formerly closing work orders.

  • Ensure continuity of essential tasks and processes.
  • Liaise with head foreman to keep flow in the shops going; arranging contractors as required with assistance from the superintendents and manager on site.

Compensation

  • The salary range is : $79,128 - $92,568 (Band S3).
  • Annual Incentive Plan.

Requirements

Education & Experience :

You are a pro-active self-starter who can multi-task. You bring strong planning and organizational skills. You possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to think creatively about current work processes and assist in driving change in the department. The successful candidate will be working in a fast-paced environment; task management abilities are a must.

You bring advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of and experience with Enterprise Asset Management systems is also beneficial. Previous experience working with various trades, such as electricians and / or mechanics within a heavy industrial setting is considered an asset but not required. An understanding of the Container Shipping Industry and previous experience in a unionized environment is preferred but not required.

These capabilities have typically been developed through the completion of a post-secondary degree / diploma in a related field and 2-3 years of experience, or a combination of education, training and experience in a related discipline.
