The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Human Resources Business Partner to join the Human Resources Business Centre within the People, Policy & Technology Sub-Division and Community Safety & Organizational Excellence Division. The position reports to the Human Resources Manager and is responsible for:
- Supporting the HRBP Team to provide proactive consultation, recommendations, and advisory services to assigned business units.
- Providing advisory services on recruitment processes, onboarding and off-boarding, performance management, disability case management, engagement initiatives, employee and labour relations, and learning and development.
- Assisting with projects to improve HR functions and services, including compensation, recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, payroll, and performance management.
- Developing and executing corporate policies, administrative guidelines, and business center processes in line with best practices to ensure legislative compliance and consistent application.
- Providing coaching and mentoring to leaders to deliver exceptional service and strategic HR solutions.
- Conducting research on industry standards and best practices, and recommending developments in HR guidelines, planning, and strategy.
What You Bring
A combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Typically, this includes:
- Completion of a relevant University (Bachelor) program plus 5 or more years of related work experience, including at least one year in indirect supervision or leadership/mentorship roles.
- Experience across multiple HR disciplines such as employee and labour relations, compensation, recruitment, performance management, disability case management, and learning and development.
- Experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
- Ability to support client goals, build effective relationships, and adhere to HR policies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to facilitate situations with potential legal implications.
- Adaptability and effectiveness both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to act as a change agent and cultural champion.
- Maintaining high levels of trust and confidentiality.
- Experience in problem solving, conflict resolution, and investigations.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with HR systems and platforms (e.g., Laserfiche).
- CPHR or other recognized HR designation is an asset.
