The Manager, Construction manages assigned land development construction projects on time, within budget, and to the high Sifton quality standards. The role is responsible for leading all on-site activities in our land portfolio, leading construction team members, and is a key member of the division leadership team.

About The Role

  • Contributes to strategic vision, business objectives, product realization and other initiatives which enhance our output and ensure we have product solutions to meet future market demand.
  • Leads land development projects to ensure that the activities are executed in accordance with designed plans, budgets and schedules.
  • Manages relationships and activities of consultants, contractors, builders and other service providers
  • Anticipates and mitigates project risks by collaborating with internal planning, engineering, and real estate experts to ensure that delivered products meet end-consumer needs.
  • Leads the preparation and submission of permits and navigates through municipal services and inspections to reach product milestones on schedule.
  • Ensures executed projects meet approved design set and municipal standards as they relate to infrastructure construction and installation.
  • Conducts site inspections for conditional acceptance with city development services, and anticipates potential roadblocks and develops solutions to prevent issues from arising.
  • Leads the team responsible for all utility installation, minor works including curbs, sidewalks, streetlights, asphalt, fencing and landscaping. Uphold standards for site inspection, maintenance, and ESC activity.

Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and/or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited Community College or University.
  • 5- 10+ years of experience leading related Civil Engineering and/or construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage external relationships with contractors and other service providers, focusing on performance and issue resolution.
  • Comprehensive understanding of legislation related to construction processes and standards, including municipal, provincial and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and schedules using effective tracking methods, software and tools for project management.
  • Ability to interpret engineering designs and assess compliance against standards.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing are required to work at multiple project locations throughout southwestern Ontario, with the majority within London and the surrounding area.
  • Ability to work in safety-sensitive construction zones, around large machinery and heavy equipment as required.
