Job description

O’Hanlon Paving, a proud member of The Fath Group of Companies, has been a key player in the Edmonton road construction industry. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our Payroll team. This is a permanent, full-time position based at our head office in Edmonton. The role involves managing all aspects of payroll operations for multiple payrolls, requiring a thorough understanding of payroll practices and compliance with applicable employment and tax laws in Canada and Alberta. The Payroll & Benefits Specialist must align with the company’s core values: Commitment, Attitude, and Respect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for multiple companies, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations, including CPP, EI, and income tax filings.
  • Support fiscal year-end reconciliation processes.
  • Process annual T4s, bonuses, and allowances as applicable.
  • Maintain and update payroll and benefits records, including leave of absences, departures, deductions, and other changes.
  • Coordinate with HR and finance departments for seamless payroll integration.
  • Handle employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits, providing accurate guidance.
  • Prepare and submit detailed payroll reports and address discrepancies.
  • Continuously improve payroll processes and systems.
  • Support accounting and management as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate is a plus.
  • Minimum of five years payroll experience required.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects.
  • Highly motivated, service-oriented, and detail-focused.
