Job description

Under the supervision of the Manager, Clinical Coordinator, or designate, and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the nurse performs assessments, plans and provides personal care, and executes nursing procedures. The role includes orthopaedic technician functions such as applying/removing casts and splints, and setting up, monitoring, and adjusting traction equipment as directed by the physician. The Orthopaedic LPN operates within the competency guidelines and full scope of practice outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, adhering to agency policies, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN.
• Completion of recognized Orthopaedic Technology training plus two years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others.
• Organizational skills to plan and implement care.
• Knowledge and competencies to work at the full scope of practice required by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, including medication administration.
