The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) supports faculty and course instructors in their professional development as teachers, and provides consultations, resources and technology support to enhance learning in their courses and programs. CTL also enhances academic skill development both within and beyond courses through our English Language Development Support, Facilitated Study Groups, Mathematics and Statistics Learning Support, Experiential Learning, and Writing Support programs.

Your opportunity: As the Educational Technology and Digital Experience Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) by leading the design, development, and maintenance of its websites. You will ensure that all digital platforms are visually engaging, user-friendly, and accessible, while aligning with best practices in web design and the Centre’s vision and mission to enhance teaching and learning. This role combines creative design expertise with technical proficiency to deliver high-quality digital experiences for faculty, students, and staff.
You will administer and support teaching and administrative tools, including content management systems (CMS) such as Drupal, the Learning Management System (Quercus), and other web-based applications, while demonstrating proficiency in web technologies (HTML/CSS), graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, and UX/UI design to deliver high-quality digital experiences. A strong background in teaching and learning environments and pedagogical practices, combined with experience in instructional design, is essential to ensure that online resources and support strategies are effective for UTSC faculty, students, and staff.
In addition to web design and maintenance, you will manage client service requests and respond to teaching and learning queries by triaging them to the appropriate support areas within CTL, analyzing issues, and delivering practical solutions. You will provide timely and effective support through ServiceNow, our ticket management system. This role requires clear communication, collaboration, and tact, while working seamlessly with colleagues to build strong partnerships, foster teamwork, and deliver exceptional support. You will work closely with members of the CTL team, including CTL Communications, and UTSC’s Information and Instructional Technologies (IITS) teams, such as Web & Digital Media and Help Desk, to ensure accurate, efficient, and coordinated support.
You will leverage your instructional design experience, including advising instructors on curriculum development and effective teaching strategies, creating and implementing comprehensive training programs, and developing engaging content for workshops and seminars. This role requires assessing teaching and learning needs, identifying and recommending appropriate technologies, and applying best practices in instructional design to support a wide range of teaching and learning objectives. Strong experience in facilitating educational workshops, evaluating course materials, and utilizing learning management systems to enhance course delivery is essential.
