Job summary

Red Deer Public Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students in grades K-8 at Glendale Sciences and Technology School. This part-time role is 30 hours weekly, with the position commencing as soon as a suitable candidate is found until June 30, 2027.

The successful candidate will assist with classroom activities, support students with behavioural needs, and help ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or related training is an asset.
• Training or experience in behaviour management (e.g., non-violent crisis intervention, SIVA) preferred.
• Experience supporting students with complex behavioural needs in a school setting.
• Calm, patient, and able to respond effectively in high-needs or escalated situations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexible, reliable, and able to support a variety of classroom and school-based activities.
• Comfortable supporting personal care needs including lifting and toileting as required.
