Job summary

Steele's Transportation Group is seeking a Dispatch Coordinator for the Edmonton Terminal. You will own the daily freight movement from route planning through to final stop, actively adjusting the plan as the day evolves.

The role requires directing drivers and coordinating with Customer Service and the dock to keep operations smooth. Expected duties include planning efficient P&D routes, monitoring live progress, ensuring Hours of Service compliance, and communicating with customers about

Qualifications

• 2+ years in transportation dispatch, route planning or fleet coordination.
• Ability to turn orders and constraints into an efficient plan and re-plan quickly.
• Calm decision-making under pressure with firm direction to drivers.
• Strong prioritization and accountability; distinguish real service emergencies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Plan the day: build multi-stop P&D routes using appointments, geography and capacity.
• Manage the plan: monitor stops, adjust for delays and communicate changes.
• Protect safety and service: maintain HOS compliance and inform customers of status.
• Close the loop: finalize manifests and track performance for continuous improvement.
