The Mobile Service Technician is a front-line representative of Peterbilt Pacific; responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing mechanical and electrical systems and components of commercial transport trucks in remote locations. They are also responsible for growing the mobile service business, scheduling appointments, estimating work, and invoicing customers.

Responsibilities
- Work with our team of Journeyperson and Apprentice Commercial Truck Transport Technicians in servicing over 10,000 trucks per year
- Utilize OEM specified diagnostic procedures to diagnose and repair defects on chassis and drivetrain systems in a timely manner
- Perform diagnostic road tests
- Tag warranty parts and customer parts as required
- Participate in all training programs made available through Peterbilt Motors and outside vendors
- Ensure job-site safety requirements are met including customer requirements such as COR Certification, drug testing, etc.
- Adjust, repair, and/or replace parts and components on all commercial transport truck and trailer vehicle systems in remote locations
- Create maintenance plans and perform scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups in remote locations
- Accurately communicate diagnostics and repair plans with customers
- Remain accountable to the Service Manager for all work performed
- Create estimates and sell service work to customers
- Escalate hard-to-diagnose concerns to appropriate channels
- Schedule work with remote customers and grow the mobile service business
- Make judgment calls on the best repair plans, such as towing or on-site repairs
- Travel to remote locations to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs
- Maintain assigned Mobile Service Truck
- Understand Peterbilt, PACCAR, and vendor warranty coverages to determine warranty vs. customer pay work
- Invoice customers for service work, including receiving payment
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Completion of a four-year Truck and Transport Technician Apprenticeship
- Red Seal Trade Certification
- 5+ years of Peterbilt service experience
- MVI Certification
- Valid class 1 or 3 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement
- Beginner or Intermediate First Aid Certification
- Cummins Midrange, Heavy-Duty, and Natural Gas Engine Certifications
- PACCAR MX Engine Certification
- Peterbilt 300-Level Electrical Certification
- A self-starter with an intrapreneurial mindset
- High level of communication skills to explain complex failures and repair plans to customers
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented
- Superior mechanical aptitude and knowledge of heavy-duty truck repairs
- Strong organizational skills for workload, time management, and prioritization
- Ability to make complex decisions under pressure without supervision
- Customer service, empathy, and conflict de-escalation training is an asset
- Strong computer skills, including DSI/Blaze, Decisiv, Cummins Insite, PACCAR DAVIE4, Bendix A-COM, Eaton SR4, Wabco Toolbox, etc.
Compensation Rate
- $49.18 - $56.68 per hour
- Pay rate based on experience, certifications, and skill level
