Summary

The position is responsible for oversight of their academic program(s), including activities related to the student experience and student success such as developing and implementing retention strategies, managing active students, students on leave of absences, NS / TO, and students on externship. The role involves managing and supporting faculty, externship quality, and clinical site quality and volume. Academic quality responsibilities include classroom observations, faculty feedback, program review participation, student learning outcome assessment, reporting, data analysis, and developing improvement plans. The position also involves communicating relevant information to faculty, conducting program-specific training, and possibly classroom teaching, with the majority of time dedicated to administrative oversight.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Teaching courses in a term or multiple terms
  2. Developing and conducting assessments on student learning outcomes
  3. Coordinating faculty activities, training, and scheduling
  4. Assisting with faculty selection and interviews
  5. Developing and evaluating clinical education sites, externship, and preceptor programs
  6. Maintaining faculty contact information and substitute listings
  7. Coordinating new faculty and student orientations
  8. Assessing class sessions as per policy
  9. Managing inventory of equipment and supplies
  10. Preparing equipment and supply requests
  11. Coordinating textbook orders
  12. Facilitating faculty meetings, advisory meetings, curriculum reviews (with agendas and minutes)
  13. Maintaining current curriculum documentation
  14. Ensuring licensure and certification renewals
  15. Meeting accreditation standards and submitting documentation
  16. Preparing accreditation reports and maintaining records
  17. Participating in admissions and employment activities
  18. Monitoring compliance with standards
  19. Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate degree as a Veterinary Technician from an AVMA or CVMA-accredited program, OR Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA or CVMA-accredited program
  • 3 years of field experience
  • 1 year of teaching, administration, or clinical supervision within the last 5 years

Additional requirements include necessary certificates, licenses, and registrations for teaching.
