The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for the cleaning and sanitization of all residents' apartments and common areas.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To clean areas according to assigned schedules using appropriate cleaning and sanitation methods and procedures.
  2. To clean residents' apartments and common areas, including furniture, kitchen and washroom fixtures, walls, ceilings, lights, vents, and windows.
  3. To operate floor care machines and steam cleaning equipment.
  4. To strip, scrub, spray, and buff all carpet and non-carpet floor surfaces.
  5. To pick up garbage and transport it to designated areas.
  6. To adhere to established residence policies and procedures, including safety rules and safe working practices.
  7. To prepare documentation as required according to residence policy.
  8. To be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote them.
  9. To attend in-service training as required in order to better serve the needs of the residents.
  10. To attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in the Residence that have taken place.
  11. To participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
  12. To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
  13. To uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity.
  14. To complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Good oral and written English communication skills.
  2. Ability to provide feedback on a day-to-day basis.
  3. Knowledge and experience with standard institutional cleaning techniques.
  4. Previous experience in commercial/residential/healthcare cleaning and laundry procedures is desirable.
  5. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  6. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
  7. Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
  8. Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
