Base pay range

CA$110,000.00 / yr - CA$130,000.00 / yr

Controller

Responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, accounting practices and oversight of preparation of financial reports.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting processes, delivering reports in an accurate and timely manner to drive effective decisions;
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff;
• Review monthly contract accounting to ensure a high level of project accuracy and compliance with revenue recognition policies;
• Cash management - responsible for treasury functions of the business, control oversight of bank accounts, and ensuring sufficient funds are available;
• Lead preparation of internal and external audit fieldwork and schedules;
• Review and improve internal controls and SOX compliance, partner with internal audit and corporate accounting;
• Review of balance sheet and P&L reconciliation(s) to meet reporting requirements;
• Review Tax claim processes to ensure timely submission, working closely with external accountants and parties;
• Led and managed ad-hoc projects;
• Champion the enhancement of finance processes and tools, to increase efficiency and accuracy;
• Develop and maintain robust financial controls to secure the company's assets and ensure financial integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in finance / accounting;
• 7+ years relevant experience;
• Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring accounting teams;
• Strong knowledge of Balance Sheet and Income Statement;
• English & French Language skills proficiency (both oral and written);
• Eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2;
• Eligible to meet requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR);
• Experience with Oracle SmartView is considered an asset;
• Experience working within the Aerospace and Defence industries.
