Qualifications

Job description

ENERGY Transportation Group is currently seeking a Corporate Controller to join its LaSalle team.

What Will Your Role Be?

ENERGY is looking for an experienced corporate controller, to undertake all aspects of financial management. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Finance, the successful candidate will help steward the corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. The Corporate controller responsibilities will also include financial risk management.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, Fixed assets, GL.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close process and meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Co-ordinate the year-end close with the external auditors.
  • Assist with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Partner with various company departments and branches on variance explanations.
  • Assist with various credit and treasury functions.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage and comply with local, provincial, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Additional controller duties as necessary.

What We’re Looking For:

  • CPA designation.
  • Over 5 years' professional experience as a financial controller.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience in the creation of financial statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month/year-end closing process.
  • Excellent skills in the use and administration of accounting software.
  • Experience with NetSuite Oracle is an asset.
  • Oriented towards optimizing technologies to automate tasks.
  • Leadership experience to maximize team performance.
  • Detail-oriented while keeping an eye on the big picture.
  • Experience in the transportation industry is an asset.
  • Fluency in French and English (spoken and written) is required.
