Job summary

ABC Head Start Society in Edmonton-west is seeking an Early Learning Education Assistant II to support children ages 3-5 in inclusive classrooms. You’ll collaborate with teachers to implement developmentally appropriate activities and individualized plans in a nurturing environment.

This role emphasizes teamwork, trauma-informed practices, and strong communication with families. The position is full-time, based in our west Edmonton location, with a schedule Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm,

Qualifications

• Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare or related field.
• Experience supporting children with developmental or behavioral needs.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices (or willing to learn).
• Criminal record check with vulnerable sector completed within 60 days of hire.
• Standard First Aid/CPR certification or completion within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

About You

Must-Haves

• Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare, Special Needs Educational Assistant, Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, or related field.
• Experience supporting children with behavioral or developmental needs.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices (or a willingness to learn!).
• Willing participant in annual training in Safe Management practices (employer provided training).
• Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector completed obtained within 60-days of date of hire.
• Valid Standard First Aid/CPR certification or completion within 30-days of hire.

Nice-to-Haves

• A knack for creativity and problem-solving. Experience in inclusive, multicultural environments. A love of play-based learning (bonus if you’re great at hide-and-seek!).

Working with Us

This position is based in our west Edmonton location.

Compensation starts at $21.33/hour, with increases based on experience and qualifications.

Regular full-time Monday thru Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm.

ABC Head Start does not qualify for wage top-up.
