Job description

Position Title : Early Childhood Educator, Infant Toddler

Location : Kids at Heather YMCA Child Care (710 W 12th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5Z 0A5)

Terms : Permanent, Full-Time : 35-40 hours / week

Shift : Monday to Friday, rotating shifts between 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Rate : $24.19 per hour for ECE IT License (plus $6 per hour for Licensed ECEs as per the Provincial Government’s Wage Enhancement Initiative) + Benefits

Start Date : ASAP

Reports To : Team Lead, Child Care

Nature & Scope :

We are seeking a caring and creative Early Childhood Educator to provide a safe and engaging experience for all children at the YMCA. Following the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum, the educator plans and leads activities based on the interests and developmental levels of the children in our care.

Major Responsibilities :

  • Provide quality care and creative programming to children
  • Build meaningful and positive relationships with children and families
  • Work with your team to create a supportive and safe environment for staff and families
  • Deliver high-quality, age-appropriate programs based on the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum
  • Provide active supervision at all times and support transitions between play areas
  • Use our parent communication app (Weemarkable) to provide daily updates
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in all program areas and common spaces
  • Follow all YMCA, Child Care Facility Licensing (CCFL), and legal requirements, including YMCA curriculum standards

Qualifications / Experience :

  • ECE IT certification from a recognized program in British Columbia
  • Special Needs Educator (SNE) is an asset
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Training related to child growth and development is an asset
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-C & AED certification required (can be obtained within 30 days of start date)
  • Three professional references required
  • Current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check / Vulnerable Sector Search issued within six months of start date
