Position Details

Type: Temporary Full Time

Hours: 7 Hours/Day

Start Date: June 30, 2025 - August 29, 2025

Location: HJ Alexander Child Care Centre - 30 King St, York, ON M9N 1K9

Position Summary

Delivers high-quality, developmentally appropriate programs for children, supporting their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Implements inclusive programs for children with special needs, supports team collaboration, and manages kitchen duties including serving and preparing food, maintaining cleanliness, and housekeeping.

Responsibilities

1. Supervise children ensuring safety and well-being, maintaining a hazard-free environment.
2. Assist in planning and executing daily programs that promote inclusive, active learning, and self-esteem.
3. Observe and record children’s development, collaborating with the team on program plans.
4. Use positive interactions, effective communication, and promote independence and respect.
5. Communicate with parents about their child's progress and needs.
6. Participate in classroom setup and manage medication and allergy protocols.
7. Drop off and pick up children from buses if required.
8. Serve lunches and snacks, maintaining a sanitary kitchen and adhering to health standards.
9. Assist with laundry and other housekeeping duties.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Early Childhood Assistant program or equivalent, with experience working with children, including those with special needs.
• Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (if applicable).
• Knowledge of ELECT, Play-Based curriculum, and inclusive programming.
• Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to build effective partnerships with families and colleagues.
• Food Handlers Certificate, WHMIS training, and knowledge of kitchen safety.
• Ability to lift and bend as needed.
• Vulnerable Police Record Check and Standard First Aid certification.

Compensation & Application
