Job Title: Construction Inspector
Job Description

We have a long-term opportunity for a Construction Inspector to join our team and work on a variety of notable ICI projects, including hospital renovations, site development, and college projects across the GTA and Kitchener areas. You will be responsible for conducting construction inspections, managing contractors, reviewing and creating documents, resolving technical and administrative challenges, liaising with stakeholders, and communicating changes effectively.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with contract specifications and regulatory standards under senior staff oversight.
• Ensure contractors adhere to contract requirements, report deviations, and implement corrective measures with guidance from senior team members.
• Prepare detailed site review reports documenting pre-construction, construction, and post-construction activities in accordance with PEO, OAA, RAIC, OPSS, and other municipal or client standards, ensuring reports are reviewed and approved by senior staff.
• Communicate with contractors, owners, the public, and external agencies (e.g., utility companies, local municipalities) throughout the construction period to facilitate communication and resolve issues.
• Assist with contract administration tasks, including preparing progress payments and meeting minutes, under senior staff supervision.
• Resolve routine technical and administrative challenges daily with senior guidance, escalating complex issues to more senior staff.
• Assist project managers and designers with drafting engineering plans using AutoCAD, ensuring all design work meets project requirements and specifications.
• Inform the supervisor of any changes or conflicts in the work schedule promptly to ensure smooth project progression.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and promote safe practices on all project sites, identifying and reporting onsite problems to senior staff, and collecting relevant data for issue resolution.
• Assist with various tasks and projects as assigned by supervisors or senior team members to support the team's and company's objectives.
• Demonstrate principles of quality, client focus, teamwork, sustainability, and community in daily work practices and interactions with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of relevant construction inspection experience in civil projects (ICI, site development, etc.).
• Access to own vehicle and driving car (mileage will kick in from the office).
• Strong understanding of surveying and ability to coach contractors on design corrections using rotating lasers.
• High school education as a minimum.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with the P3 model for project delivery.
• Experience with Civil 3D/AutoCAD drafting.
• WHMIS and Working at Heights training.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid work environment with office locations in Kitchener and the possibility of working from home when creating and reviewing technical documentation or writing reports. Site visits will be frequent across KWC and GTA. Short night shifts may be required once or twice a year based on project requirements, with potential premium pay. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $46.00/hr.
