Job Title: Second Chef

Qualifications
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Work Environment
  • Restaurant in an urban area
Position Level

Responsibilities
  1. Estimate the amount and costs of supplies and food items
  2. Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
  3. Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff
  4. Supervise activities of kitchen staff including specialist chefs, cooks, and other workers
  5. Create new recipes
  6. Instruct cooks in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation
  7. Supervise cooks and kitchen staff
  8. Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
  9. Requisition food and kitchen supplies
  10. Plan menus and ensure food quality standards
  11. Train staff in food preparation, cooking, and handling
  12. Lead and instruct team members
