Job description

Job Description : The Inside Sales Account Manager is responsible for managing warm leads received through web forms, phone calls, live chats, walk-ins, and other inbound channels. As many of these leads are paid for by the company, prompt action is required to maximize opportunities. This role involves handling introductory calls, distributing leads to other Account Managers (including referrals and city-specific leads), and ensuring an exceptional first impression for potential clients.

Additionally, the Inside Sales Account Manager will manage an assigned book of business, providing ongoing support to existing clients and serving as an escalation point of contact. They will monitor client freight spend on a monthly and year-over-year basis to ensure continued engagement with Complete Shipping Solutions (CSS). A key responsibility is identifying opportunities to expand client relationships by uncovering additional business needs, such as new branches, referrals, or untapped freight solutions.

Beyond lead management and client retention, this role requires proactively seeking new business opportunities through cold calls and emails. The Inside Sales Account Manager will also assist in training new Account Managers and Sales Coordinators by offering guidance through demos, system training, and real-world scenarios.

Collaboration across departments is essential, ensuring that internal and external requests are addressed efficiently. The role may also involve occasional client site visits using a company vehicle when necessary. In cases of absences, vacations, or breaks, the Inside Sales Account Manager will coordinate with Sales Coordinators to maintain proper coverage for inbound calls and warm leads.

Furthermore, they will work closely with the Sales & Marketing Director and Marketing Manager to support various sales and marketing initiatives, including case studies, training videos, and process improvements. Performance metrics and KPIs—such as call volume, touchpoints, and revenue goals—will be established and reported to management to support CSS's growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead Management : Promptly action all warm leads from inbound channels, ensuring exceptional responsiveness and client experience.
  • Pipeline Development : Continuously build a pipeline of prospective clients through cold calling, email outreach, and personal networking.
  • Client Relationship Management : Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, acting as their primary point of contact and fostering long-term engagement.
  • Sales Process Facilitation : Oversee the full sales cycle, from lead generation and product demonstration to customer onboarding and ongoing support.
  • Performance Tracking : Develop and execute a yearly sales plan with monthly targets, tracking progress and following up on inactive accounts.
  • Sales & Marketing Collaboration : Assist in the creation of training videos and sales resources for marketing initiatives.
  • Market Research : Conduct industry research to identify niche markets and focus sales efforts accordingly each quarter.
  • Proposal Development : Create customized proposals, including content development, pricing, and market analysis.
  • CRM & Data Management : Maintain accurate records of leads, account progress, and sales activities in company CRM / ERP systems.
  • Client Issue Resolution : Assist with overdue invoice collections and customer service escalations when necessary.
  • Continuous Learning : Stay updated on company products (SMARTT Shipping, NetSuite, WMS), industry trends, and professional development opportunities.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration : Work with Claims to address high claim rates and Marketing on sales collateral.
  • Networking & Client Entertainment : Attend external networking events and engage in client entertainment activities as needed.
  • Administrative Support : Provide general office support, including answering calls, scheduling site tours, and managing calendars.
  • Adaptability & Growth : Be flexible in adjusting to evolving industry trends and company needs.
  • Training & Mentorship : Assist in onboarding and training new team members through hands-on learning experiences.
