You'll play a key role in critical project phases, from Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commodities. We are currently seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Site Project Director to be based in either Toronto or the Burlington office. If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing your being located in another office location.
The candidate should (ideally) have experience on remote, northern Canada projects with significant logistical challenges, as well as experience with rail and port infrastructure (in addition to open pit mining and mineral processing experience).

- Manage health and safety risks through design, approval, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Responsible for ensuring incidents, including near misses, are reported, investigated, and analyzed. Corrective and preventive actions are taken, and learnings are shared.
- Responsible for maintaining health and safe working practices.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the health and safety management system.
- Management of environmental risks is an integral part of all projects through design, approval, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

- Participate in frequent and extensive client meetings to improve client relations and satisfaction.
- Ensure project goals and objectives are achieved within the agreed timeframe and guidelines established by stakeholders and management committees.
- Prepare communication plans and project status reports to key stakeholders and governance bodies, providing updates on activities, deliverables, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Define and manage overall project risk identification and mitigation processes.
- Identify project barriers and develop strategies to overcome them.
- Implement change management strategies to address concerns during and after project implementation, ensuring sustainability.
- Apply industry-standard project management processes to ensure project completion.
- Travel frequently to engineering and client offices and project sites to coordinate activities.
- Liaise with department managers and leaders to discuss requirements, fostering effective working relationships.
- Comply with relevant business management system policies and procedures.
- Define and determine the role of project management, including specific roles and responsibilities.
- Provide high-level project management leadership, overseeing plans, deliverables, dependencies, and outcomes.
- Develop and lead project teams, fostering team spirit and alignment with core values.
- Manage project dependencies, ensuring deliverables are on time, on target, and within budget.
- Drive timely invoicing and manage cash collection.
- Define project scope and execute plans aligned with client needs, from scoping through completion.
- Manage senior project team members to meet financial and schedule goals.
- Obtain client approvals upon project completion and closeout.
- Seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen relationships.
- Build knowledge of each client's business, organization, and objectives.
About you
- Degree in business administration (HBA), construction management, or applied science/engineering (BASc/BEng).
- Member of Project Management Institute (PMI) or pursuing PMI certification.
- 20+ years of proven project management and business development experience, preferably with an EPC/EPCM firm or large organization; construction experience is advantageous.
- Understanding of international project delivery practices and procedures.
- Successful completion of large EPCM projects valued at USD 1.0 billion or more, delivered on time, on spec, and on budget.
- High standards for project execution, emphasizing finance, quality, innovation, health, safety, environment, and community.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lead, give clear direction, and mentor teams to build future business capability.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in business development.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills; ability to meet tight deadlines.
