Temporary Full-Time Position
(Approximately 2 years)
Are you passionate about protecting the environment and helping communities thrive? The District of Saanich is seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Environmental Planner to help shape the future of our natural spaces by enhancing and developing municipal policies and bylaws that support stream protection, habitat restoration and ecosystem-based planning. Join our dedicated team of professionals to help bring to life our new Biodiversity Conservation Strategy and updated Urban Forest Strategy.
Requirements include: Completion of a university degree in environmental studies, environmental science, biology, ecology or other related discipline; A recognized Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) with professional accreditation; four years of experience in environmental policy, planning and development; a mix of technical, field-based and policy-related experience; comprehensive knowledge of local ecosystems, habitats and native species; and a valid Class 5 driver’s license. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will also have strong computer skills, including applications such as Microsoft Office and GIS; excellent written and oral communication skills; and a demonstrated ability to navigate a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
The successful candidate will work Monday - Friday between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (35 hours a week). In addition to the interview process, testing may be conducted. We thank all applicants for applying. Only those under consideration will be contacted.
