Position: Environmental Planner (Temporary Full Time)

Are you passionate about protecting the environment and helping communities thrive? The District of Saanich is seeking a dedicated Environmental Planner to help shape the future of our natural spaces by enhancing municipal policies and bylaws supporting stream protection, habitat restoration, and ecosystem-based planning. Join our team to implement our Biodiversity Conservation Strategy and Urban Forest Strategy.

Requirements

• University degree in environmental studies, science, biology, ecology, or related field
• Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) accreditation
• Four years of experience in environmental policy, planning, and development
• Technical, field-based, and policy experience
• Knowledge of local ecosystems, habitats, and native species
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Skills & Additional Requirements

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and GIS
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders

Work Schedule & Compensation

Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (35 hours/week). Testing may be conducted during the interview process.

Salary & Benefits

Wage: $49.41/hour. This position is represented by C.U.P.E. 2011 and offers an excellent benefits package.
