Are you interested in taking your nursing practice in a challenging new direction? As an Operating Room Technician - Licensed Practical Nurse with a perioperative specialty, you will provide care and support to patients before, during, and after surgery. Perioperative Nurses are responsible for maintaining a sterile environment in the operating room, monitoring patients during surgery, and coordinating care throughout the process.
This post-diploma certificate prepares you to work alongside surgeons and other healthcare professionals in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment in the operating room. It is designed for Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses, combining online coursework with in-person labs and on-site training at GPRH to ensure you acquire the hands-on skills needed for perioperative nursing. Following successful completion, you'll participate in a comprehensive Preceptorship and Orientation on-site in the GPRH OR.
The program consists of online courses scheduled over fall, winter, and spring/summer terms, which must be completed in sequence. All five courses are offered online. In addition to a competitive pay rate, AHS offers a Remote Retention Allowance up to $3,000 annually, payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be part of an interprofessional healthcare team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and AHS policies to provide safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care, reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
