HR Generalist/Office Manager

About Us

We are an impact-focused and high-performance team of post-grads and Ph.D.’s in Physics, Math, and other hard sciences, that use data, technology, and innovative research to create sophisticated quantitative trading strategies.

Location: Vancouver, BC (1055 West Georgia, RBC building)

Work Arrangement: 2-3 days in-office (hybrid)

Position Type: Permanent, Full-time

Core Hours: 9am-5pm

About You

You bring a robust generalist background in technical recruitment and HR operations, with expertise in attracting high-caliber technical talent and extensive experience managing the entire employee lifecycle.

You are a proactive, problem-solving, and operationally minded professional with over 10+ years of experience to effectively manage the office and administrative functions of a small, dynamic company.

You thrive in a mission-critical environment working with high-performance staff, and excel at ensuring the team can meet its objectives.

What You’ll Do

  1. Leverage your strong recruitment expertise to evaluate applicant profiles for technical capabilities and role alignment, and screen behavioral characteristics/traits for performance fit.
  2. Manage the recruiting process including online assessment tools, scheduling meetings, interviews, and travel arrangements to ensure a high-performing team.
  3. Manage and execute new employee onboarding, including relaying employee performance feedback during and beyond the 3-month probationary period.
  4. Oversee all end-to-end HR functions including employee reviews, documentation, performance management, PIP implementation if required, feedback, and conflict resolution.
  5. Handle records management for employees and annual reporting, including immigration and work permit requirements when applicable.
  6. Coordinate with external advisors such as immigration and employment lawyers.
  7. Manage HR and employee-related technology, including subscription tools and website administration.

What You Bring

  1. 10+ years of experience in full-cycle HR roles, from recruiting to employment termination.
  2. Strong recruitment expertise, particularly with hiring technical professionals and assessing behavioral traits for performance fit.
  3. Completion of post-secondary education.
  4. Experience working autonomously and collaboratively in a small, high-performance team environment.
  5. Knowledge of the BC Employment Standards Act and experience working with employment lawyers.
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills to work tactfully with external providers, the PhD team, and leadership.
  7. Ability to handle conflict and challenging situations effectively.
  8. Ability to work discreetly with the technical team and provide constructive feedback.
  9. Independent, results-driven problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset and appropriate escalation when needed.
  10. Strong planning and prioritization skills, with flexibility to adapt to business demands.
  11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  12. Proficiency with G Suite applications and tools.
  13. Calm, focused attitude capable of fostering a performance-driven work environment.
  14. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary ranges from $85,000 to $100,000, depending on experience and skills.

Extended healthcare benefits including dental, vision, paramedical providers (such as physiotherapy), up to $500 per practitioner per year, and an additional $1,000 annually in a Health Care Spending Account.

RRSP matching on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
