This newly created position as Financial Controller is a great opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Senior Accountant ready for progression.

Summary :

The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the Finance and Commercial Services team and operations of WA Blue Sky. This role drives continuous improvement and ensures efficient resource utilisation.

The Role :

This is a newly created, permanent, full-time role based in our Bentley office, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Responsibilities :

• Providing financial and accounting management and reporting to support organisational objectives, ensuring procedures are undertaken accurately and within deadlines.
• Managing commercial services, ensuring efficient resource utilisation, compliance and development.
• Guiding the team and the organisation in meeting compliance with legal, regulatory and contractual obligations. It also participates in monitoring the budget and identifying financial control gaps to manage risk proactively.
• Leading the finance team effectively to achieve business outcomes, strong performance and KPIs.
• Collaborating with the Chief Executive Officer and internal and external stakeholders to ensure that financial policies, systems, and processes promote and protect the financial position of the organisation.
• Modelling continuous improvement within delegated areas of responsibility.
• The Financial Controller will manage a small team comprised of the Finance Officer, Assistant Accountant and indirectly the Payroll Officer.

Experience, Skills & Attributes :

• The ideal candidate will be achievement-oriented with a proven track record in financial management, including at least 3 years’ experience in finance and accounting.
• They will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline, along with CPA, CA, CIMA, or equivalent accreditation.
• Proficiency in systems is essential, including Microsoft Office and accounting, finance, and payroll software.
• The candidate will have strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal abilities.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, leadership in financial management, and expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting are required, with solid commercial acumen to align financial and corporate services with business goals.
• Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and fostering a strong organisational culture.
• Desirable experience in managing commercial services such as contracts, procurement, payroll and compliance, although not essential.
