Position Overview:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Controller will oversee and support financial accounting and analysis across various divisions, including day-to-day and month-end processes. Responsibilities include compiling monthly financial statements, assisting with internal reporting, divisional budgeting and forecasting, quarterly reporting, and supporting the implementation of new software and updates.

Candidate Qualities:

The applicant must be flexible and adaptable to meet changing company needs. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to resolve internal and divisional employee requests.

Responsibilities:

1. Preparation of consolidated financial statements and reports.
2. Analyze and report cost variances.
3. Conduct account analysis and reconciliations to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
4. Support transactional functions for accurate, complete, and timely financial results.
5. Assist with the management of all accounting departments.
6. Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations and prepare related reports.
7. Examine and analyze accounting records, documents, and systems for accuracy and compliance with standards.
8. Collaborate with senior management on complex issues.
9. Perform other tasks as needed (e.g., entering A/P, A/R invoices, document control).

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. Chartered Professional Accountant designation or near completion of the designation.
3. 3-5 years of proven experience in accounting roles, with focus areas including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, budgeting, and account analysis.
4. Proficiency with MS Office; experience with DGP and Solver is an asset.
5. Supervisory experience is an asset.
6. Strong analytical, technological, communication, and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
7. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and effective multitasking.
8. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
