Job Summary :

This position is responsible for providing Maintenance support, ongoing planning, and assistance to maximize efficiencies, identify opportunities to lower maintenance costs and increase productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Utilize the Preventative Maintenance Program (PMP) including predictive maintenance, spare parts inventory and down-time trending by equipment and frequency.
• Provide training and mentorship to maintenance technicians.
• Enhance equipment performance, recommending and implementing improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Identify and repair problematic parts of a machine by running tests to ensure repairs are made or by installing new parts.
• Help manage maintenance parts procurement and budget.
• Collaborate with cross-functional groups including Production, Human Resource, Quality, Supply Chain, Warehousing, and Finance to meet production targets.
• Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve machines and plant equipment to maximize efficiency.
• Lead by example, fostering a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Demonstrate flexibility and a "whatever it takes" attitude to ensure tasks are completed properly, including being available on-call during nights and weekends.
• Assist in executing the production schedule and supply the needs of Operations.
• Ensure effective Maintenance safety procedures, tools and record keeping are managed through site leadership.
• Comply with all SunOpta Quality and food safety standards, HACCP, GMPs, Organic, GFCO, SQF, Kosher certificate and customer requirements.
• Responsible for Food Safety and reporting any non-compliance issues to their immediate supervisor.
• Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.
• Backup for this role is alternate Lead Production Maintenance Technician.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Millwright 433a Certified
• 3+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred

The location for this role is in St. Davids, Ontario, Canada

Work Environment / Physical Demands :

• 100% of the work is performed in a production environment
• Must be available to work rotating shifts : days, afternoons, nights
• Must be available to work weekends
• Must be able to stand / walk for majority of the shift
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or with a team
• Competency in performing multiple tasks
• Ability to organize and prioritize
• Must have reliable transportation (location is off bus route)
