Job description

Job Title: Business Development Manager

Our client is seeking a Business Development Manager to join their team. This role involves enhancing and expanding various branches of the business by developing relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners. The successful candidate will identify opportunities for engineering projects and support construction and fabrication activities. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Fabrication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage existing contacts to support drafting and engineering projects.
  • Generate leads and conduct cold calls to prospective clients.
  • Meet with clients face-to-face and via phone to understand their needs.
  • Develop strategic plans to meet customer requirements and improve business growth.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the company's products and services to advise clients effectively.
  • Coordinate promotional strategies with the marketing department.
  • Attend industry seminars, conferences, and events as appropriate.
  • Keep informed about industry trends and market changes.
  • Expand company relationships through business development activities.
  • Gather industry intelligence through networking and research.
  • Showcase the company's engineering and drafting capabilities supporting fabrication, construction, and maintenance.
  • Propose marketing initiatives to the Vice President of Fabrication.
  • Conduct sales forecasting and analysis, presenting findings to senior management.
  • Prepare presentations and assist in developing quotes and proposals.
  • Contribute to setting sales goals and strategies.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree in Business or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in business development.
  • Proven success in managing client relationships.
  • Self-motivated with a record of high performance.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability.
  • Deep industry knowledge and awareness of current trends.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective multitasking and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with the ability to understand client needs.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships internally and externally.
