Job Description

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals, providing catering services, maintaining work areas in a safe and sanitary condition, and helping ensure a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Preparing food for residents;
2. Ensuring resident satisfaction with meal service;
3. Responding to resident or family concerns and taking appropriate action or escalating to the Food Services Manager;
4. Setting up, serving, and tearing down at catering events;
5. Communicating effectively with residents, families, visitors, and volunteers in a courteous manner, projecting a professional image, and focusing on customer service excellence.

Ideal candidates will possess:

• Experience in food services within a retirement, long-term care, or hospitality environment;
• Secondary school diploma or equivalent;
• Food Safe Level 1 Certificate (preferred);
• Smart Serve Certificate (preferred);
• First Aid Certificate (preferred);
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English;
• Empathy and understanding of seniors' needs;
• Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
• Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints.
