Project Manager
Hybrid role
Are you an experienced project manager with a passion for meaningful work and system-wide impact? The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) is seeking a motivated Project Manager to lead the successful execution and delivery of interrelated projects that support our Workplace-Based Assessment (WBA) initiatives and broader organizational goals.
Reporting to the Senior Portfolio Manager, you will drive the implementation of time-bound projects and pilots aimed at advancing a pan-Canadian model for assessing internationally trained physicians. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality outcomes, cross-functional alignment, and strong collaboration with both internal teams and external partners. You'll also oversee the smooth transition of sustainable products and services into ongoing operations, helping us build a stronger, more inclusive healthcare system.
What you'll do
- Oversee the delivery of a program composed of multiple interrelated projects aligned with strategic goals.
- Lead high-priority projects directly while coordinating and supervising other consultants.
- Collaborate with interested internal parties and business owners to define project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.
- Ensure consistency and quality across projects by applying MCC's project management methodology.
- Develop and maintain key program and project documentation (e.g., program roadmap, integrated plans, risk registers, dashboards).
- Build and lead cross-functional teams composed of internal staff, contractors, and subject matter experts.
- Facilitate coordination across multiple teams to ensure a cohesive and efficient delivery environment.
- Engage with external partners to understand needs, gather feedback, and align project execution with intended outcomes.
- Support business owners in developing sustainability and operational integration plans for delivered products / services
What you need to succeed
Experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in project and program management roles.
- Experience delivering complex, multi-interested party initiatives in a healthcare, education, or public sector environment.
- Experience working on software implementations including major COTs deployments.
- Experience in training development and delivery projects.
- Experience in a healthcare environment is an asset
- Familiarity with government-funded programs, particularly related to grants and contribution agreements, is an asset.
- Understanding medical education or health workforce initiatives is an asset.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in project and program delivery methodologies.
- Skilled in interested party engagement, negotiation, and facilitation.
- Financial and resource planning experience at both project and program levels.
- Proficient in Change Management practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint, and project tracking tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana).
- Experience with applications such as Trello, Jira, Monday.com, Asana, or equivalents is considered an asset.
- Strategic thinker with strong tactical execution and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional decision-making abilities.
- Strong leadership and relationship-building abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively with interested parties.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse clients and interested parties.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and facilitate meaningful interested party engagement.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in managing changing priorities
Education
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, education, health administration, or related field
The following will be considered an asset
- PMP, PgMP, Agile (e.g., Scrum Master, SAFe), Prince2, ITIL, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or Black Belt.
Language
- Advanced oral and written skills in English are required, with oral and written skills in French considered an asset
