Job Overview

Manage the operations of the hotel to maximize profitability, ensure superior service and product quality, and drive brand and value initiatives, hotel performance, and the development of people.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage day-to-day operations and assignments of the hotel. Plan and organize work, communicate goals, and schedule/assign work. Comply with and advise staff of formal policies and procedures, identify options, and resolve issues. Initiate salary, disciplinary, or other staffing-related actions per company rules and policies. Alert regional management or corporate office of serious issues.
  2. Meet or exceed Gross Operating Profit (GOP) and flow-through goals. Maximize room revenues and achieve Revenue Growth Index (RGI) and Revenue Per Available Room goals. Anticipate and plan for market shifts.
  3. Develop and monitor the performance of financial and operational plans/budgets and sales and marketing plans for the hotel supporting overall objectives. Control labor and expenses in all areas of operations. Generate well-written commentary and correct departmental control issues.
  4. Generate and execute the Capital Expenditure Plans for capital improvements to enhance the assets of the company and brand loyalty.
  5. Achieve and maintain Overall Satisfaction Score (OSS) goals. Oversee guest service functions to ensure guest complaints are resolved appropriately and service recovery gestures are made to ensure guest satisfaction. Establish and implement VIP services and programs that meet or exceed client expectations.
  6. Ensure food and beverage profitability and revenue goals are met or exceeded by optimizing banquet/outlet space and managing food and beverage outlets cost-effectively. Adhere to brand standards.
  7. Achieve satisfactory results on internal audits and Controls Self-Assessment (CSA). Manage aging of receivables to minimize bad debt expenses.
  8. Ensure product quality standards are met across the hotel regarding appearance, maintenance, and cleanliness; establish preventative maintenance programs. Achieve productivity and quality goals.
  9. Promote employee participation in the Employee Satisfaction Pulse Survey (ESPS). Achieve ESPS goals. Develop programs and events fostering a positive work environment, such as orientation, recognition, harassment-free training, etc.
  10. Set performance goals for employees, provide feedback, and develop succession plans. Ensure staff are trained and equipped to perform effectively.
  11. Maintain a safe environment for guests, employees, and assets, achieving safety and Workers’ Compensation goals and complying with standards and inspections.
  12. Develop and maintain relationships with community contacts to ensure a visible presence locally.
  13. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with departments, regional contacts, and the corporate office.
  14. Interact with outside contacts including guests, owners, vendors, regulatory agencies, and community groups to ensure smooth operations and compliance.
  15. Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Requirements
Education
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent.
Experience
  • 6-10 years of management experience in a full-service, luxury, or resort hotel. Fluency in English required; additional languages preferred.
Other Skills
  • Strong mathematical, reading, and writing skills.
  • Problem-solving, organizational, and motivating abilities.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, remain stationary, handle objects, and perform physical activities such as bending and stooping.
  • Ability to interact positively with guests and staff, reflecting well on the hotel, brand, and company.
