About The Position
The Float Nurse will travel regionally, working within a delegated model for patients on opioid agonist treatment in a clinic environment. The role involves providing expert coverage for staffing shortages within a designated territory, participating in regular on-site visits, and assisting with bloodwork, ECGs, and immunizations.
Your Duties And Responsibilities
:
- Provide professional services to multiple regional locations
- Operate ethically and with integrity according to the Ontario College of Nurses standards
- Administer medications (methadone, suboxone, narcotics, injections) as delegated by a licensed Physician
- Collaborate with healthcare team to plan and evaluate treatment
- Perform ECGs, venipuncture, drug screening, and other vitals
- Administer injections and document properly
- Manage medication tracking and return of medication bottles
- Communicate with Physicians regarding patient needs and emergencies
- Provide program information to patients
- Handle scheduling, data, and document management
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records
What You’ll Need To Have
:
- Diploma in Registered Practical Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Experience in addiction treatment or similar field
- Ability to travel and access to personal vehicle
- Good standing with the College of Nurses in Ontario
- Annual CNO Quality Assurance certification
- Recent Criminal Reference Check
- Training in Phlebotomy and ECG is an asset
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification
- Strong commitment to working with individuals with addiction and mental health issues
- Ability to establish therapeutic relationships
- Knowledge of Harm Reduction principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
