POSITION : Logistics & Supply Chain Coordinator

PURPOSE : This position ensures the smooth operation of our supply chain and logistics (shipping & receiving) function. Primary responsibilities will be purchasing of materials from suppliers, executing the logistics of materials movement from Suppliers to us and between warehouses, and coordinating customer shipments. Shipments of materials include domestic and international shipments.

ACCOUNTABILITIES :

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Follow established inventory management processes
  • Follow material handling processes, including shipping / receiving, storage, stock replenishment, and safe handling protocols.
  • Train staff on material handling and safety
  • Manage facilities space and growth requirements
  • Oversee material purchasing, including price negotiation, supply contracts, and terms to drive profitability.
  • Arrange local and international shipments as required
  • Manage logistics, including 3rd party warehouses, couriers, carriers, and customs brokers to meet MMS quality standards and profitability goals
  • Oversee and manage the shipping and receiving process to ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods, including inspecting shipments for damage and verifying quantities
  • Coordinate purchasing activities, ensuring accurate order processing, timely restocking of inventory, and maintaining strong vendor relationships for optimal pricing and delivery
  • Communicate logistics for incoming and outgoing shipments with team members
  • Order materials and goods as needed, monitoring suppliers for price, quality, lead times and delivery speed
  • Monitor inventory levels, ensuring stock on hand is onsite based on operational needs
  • Follow inventory management practices to minimize costs while maintaining adequate stock levels
  • Coordinate and monitor supply chain operations, including transportation and delivery of goods
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials / products to meet production and customer demands
  • Build and maintain strong supplier and vendor relationships, resolving issues promptly
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement procedures
  • Monitor and control procurement budgets and expenditures, identifying cost-saving opportunities
  • Provide backup support to Material Handler on the production floor

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Understand and follow Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) program
  • Support implementation of food safety and regulatory requirements
  • FSQA program activities as assigned (ex : logs, reports, meetings)
  • Report any food safety, quality or food defense concerns
  • Other Duties

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS :

  • Key metrics include material availability (no inventory shortages) and logistics accuracy and timeliness

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong mathematical abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure in our busy / peak season and perform job duties in an accurate and efficient manner
  • Problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator, or similar role
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, practices, and contracts
  • Familiarity with inventory management and logistics optimization
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong proficiency with technology , including ERP systems and MS Office suite
  • Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Proven effectiveness working as part of a diverse team

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Ability to work and stand for long hours - approximately three (3) consecutive hours of standing
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs on a regular basis
  • Temperatures that may be considered above room temperature and not to exceed 26C
  • Intermittent loud sounds lasting approximately 20 minutes at a time throughout the day (compressor machinery). Ear protection is provided when on the loading dock
  • Smells include butter, sugar, chocolate, maple syrup, nuts. Must be free from allergies to any of these product
  • Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends if needed (frequently happens September - December)

EXPERIENCE :

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a food manufacturing environment, preferably in gourmet food
  • Previous purchasing and / or logistic experience is a must
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Please note, this position is located at our production site at 80 Galaxy Boulevard, Toronto, Ontario. You must be able to work on site.
