Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Residential Driver to operate a Rear Pack truck on assigned urban routes, performing safety inspections and maintaining a clean, efficient operation.

You will safely drive commercial collection vehicles, collect waste and recycling per schedule, and document trip logs while upholding all safety policies and PPE requirements. Early starts and overtime may be needed.

Qualifications

• Valid DZ or AZ CDL with clean abstract and CVOR.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience or completion of an accredited truck driving program.
• Ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Strong attendance and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Rear Pack truck along assigned residential routes.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.
• Collect residential waste and recycling materials in strict accordance with route schedules and corporate safety protocols.
• Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required PPE standards.
• Work closely with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
• Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements:

• Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (DZ or AZ) with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR.
