Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Fort Frances is seeking a Residential Driver to operate Automated Side-Load (ASL) trucks on residential routes, perform daily safety inspections, and support our community’s cleanliness and efficiency.

You will collaborate with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors, adhere to route schedules, safety policies, PPE, and handle early starts with overtime when required. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and service quality.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate an Automated Side-Load (ASL) collection truck on residential routes.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required logs.
• Collect residential waste and recycling following route schedules and safety protocols.
• Operate hydraulic and compaction systems with proper technique to avoid damage.
• Report mechanical issues, hazards, or safety incidents promptly to management.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and high route productivity for customers.

Requirements:

• Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (DZ or above in Ontario) with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR.
• Driving Experience: Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience (or completion of an accredited truck driving school program).
• Equipment Operation: Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Safety Commitment: Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.
• Reliability: Strong attendance record and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and operational overtime when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate an Automated Side-Load (ASL) collection truck along assigned residential routes.
• Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.
• Curbside Collection: Collect residential waste and recycling materials in strict accordance with route schedules and corporate safety protocols.
• System Operations: Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Service Quality: Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
