Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals is looking for customer-oriented, motivated individuals to join our team in North Bay, ON. We require a valid DZ license and experience transporting heavy equipment; outdoor work is year-round and safety is prioritized.

Responsibilities include delivering equipment to customer sites, loading/unloading, securing loads, and maintaining records. Overtime and on-call rotation may be required, with a competitive hourly pay range.

Qualifications

• Valid DZ driver's license with a clean abstract.
• Experience with operation, load securement and transport of heavy equipment on flat-bed trucks.
• Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather.
• Able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Willing to work overtime and on-call when required.
• Strong safety focus and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver construction equipment to customer jobsites.
• Transport equipment including aerial, earth-moving and other gear.
• Load/unload, secure loads and inspect in transit as needed.
• Complete daily pre-inspections and post-inspections, logs and timesheets.
• Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
• Keep the truck clean and in a professional condition.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver construction equipment to and from customer jobsites.
• Equipment fleet includes (but is not limited to) aerial, earth moving and compaction equipment.
• Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company safe work procedures and inspect in transit if necessary.
• Complete thorough and accurate daily pre-inspections and post-inspections, regulatory logs and timesheets.
• Check gas, oil and other fluid levels.
• Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed.
• Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
• Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
• Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.
• Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, so customers may be notified.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
• If equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get customer’s signature.
• Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets.
• Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.
• Provide basic instruction to customers on the safe operation of equipment if necessary.
• Keep the truck in clean and professional condition at all times.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• Valid DZ driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
• Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of heavy-duty construction equipment on flat-bed trucks is required.
• Comfortable with working outdoors year-round and driving in varying weather / road conditions.
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
• Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
• Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and your responsibility as a driver.
• Available and willing to work overtime when required and on an on-call rotation if required.
• Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and organization skills.
• Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.
