Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited is hiring a driver to deliver and return heavy construction equipment to customer sites. You will load, secure, inspect, and document deliveries, and communicate with dispatch on scheduling.

Qualifications

• Valid Class DZ driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points).
• 3+ years of commercial driving experience.
• Experience with operating and delivering heavy construction equipment is required.
• Comfortable with working outdoors year-round and driving in varying weather/road conditions.
• Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in vehicle and responsibilities as a driver.
• Able to lift approximately 50 lbs and work overtime/on-call when needed.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Deliver construction equipment to and from customer jobsites; handle a fleet including aerial, earth-moving, and compaction equipment.
• Load/unload, secure loads per company procedure, and inspect in transit as needed.
• Complete daily pre-/post-inspections, regulatory logs, and timesheets.
• Inform supervisor of delivery/pickup difficulties and notify customers of schedule changes.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records and provide basic equipment operation instructions.
• Keep the truck clean and professional; turn in forms and sheets to Branch Manager.
• Turn in broken/missing equipment for repair and coordinate with dispatch as required.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Deliver construction equipment to and from customer jobsites. Equipment fleet includes (but is not limited to) aerial, earth-moving, and compaction equipment.
• Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company procedure and inspect in transit if necessary.
• Complete thorough and accurate daily pre-inspections and post-inspections, regulatory logs, and timesheets.
• Check gas, oil, and other fluid levels.
• Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed.
• Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
• Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
• Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.
• Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, so customers may be notified.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
• If equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get the customer's signature.
• Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets.
• Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.
• Provide basic instruction to customers on the safe operation of equipment if necessary.
• Keep the truck in clean and professional condition at all times.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• Valid Class DZ driver's license with a clean or satisfactory driver's abstract (no more than three demerit points).
• You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver's abstract upon request.
• 3+ years of commercial driving experience.
• Experience with operating and delivering heavy construction equipment is required.
• Comfortable with working outdoors year-round and driving in varying weather / road conditions.
• Comfortable with both manual and automatic transmission.
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
• Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
• Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and your responsibility as a driver.
• Available and willing to work overtime and on an on-call rotation when needed.
• Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
