Job summary

Black Rock Oceanfront Resort in Canada’s Vancouver Island region seeks an energetic Events Coordinator to deliver end-to-end service for weddings, conferences, and social gatherings. You’ll lead a team of casual and part-time staff, coordinate group bookings, and ensure seamless event execution from inquiry to billing.

You’ll leverage your sales skills and F&B knowledge to upsell services, manage client expectations, and build strong vendor networks.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar role or as Lead Banquet Server ready for the next step.
• Extensive food and beverage knowledge with a passion for sales and event coordination.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Able to thrive in a busy environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong drive to provide quality service to internal and external customers.
• Assertive, self-starter, professional with leadership abilities.
• Knowledge of Silverware, Versa, & Event Temple (or similar POS and PMS) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute a variety of events (elopements, weddings, corporate retreats, social events) tailored to guests.
• Distribute information to internal departments via banquet orders, resumes, rooming lists, etc.
• Conduct and set up tours to showcase the resort to potential clients.
• Support Sales and Catering Manager to meet guest expectations with planning and execution.
• Act as contact person in Manager's absence and assist where necessary.
• Network with wedding vendors and maintain positive relationships.
• Oversee vendors and banquet team on event days for smooth execution.
• Contribute to a positive environment for team development and learning.
• Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of Events venues and storage areas.
