Job summary

The City of Vernon is seeking a Recreation Technician to support community recreation programs, drop-in activities, sport leagues, and events. The role emphasizes excellent customer service, problem solving, and flexibility in shifts.

Responsibilities include facility openings/closings, equipment setup, attendance tracking, and PRMS data management. A positive approach and ability to work evenings/weekends are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires 1-year post-secondary certificate in recreation or related field.
• Current First Aid with CPR Level C is required.
• Combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Support the successful implementation of special events, activities, sports and leagues, camps and programs.
• Responsible for opening and closing facilities such as sports fields, gymnasiums, meeting rooms and other recreation facilities as required.
• Assist with setup/takedown and transportation of equipment for programs and events.
• Support delivery of activities, leagues, tournaments and events; record attendance and schedules; update social media.
• Assist with inventory control and maintenance of program supplies/equipment.
• Respond to public inquiries; interact with the public, groups, instructors, volunteers and staff to provide quality recreation opportunities.
• Process registrations and drop-in admissions in the Parks and Recreation Management Software (PRMS).
• Perform other duties; assist during emergencies if required.
