Job summary

The City of Winnipeg is seeking a Recreation Technician D to plan and schedule the delivery of recreation programs and services at the Sergeant Tommy Prince Place location. You will coordinate staff recruitment, training and evaluation, and supervise program staff and volunteers to ensure quality community services.

Responsibilities include developing program data systems, adhering to City policies, monitoring expenditures, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Grade 12 and/or a combination of post-secondary education in Recreation/Leisure Services, Community Development, Business Administration or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
  • Three years relevant recreation and leisure services experience in the supervision of programs and facilities.
  • Practical knowledge of recreation and delivery of leisure services philosophy.
  • Experience in the delivery of recreation and leisure services and has supervised programs, facilities and employees at a level that requires limited guidance.
  • Demonstrated experience in the administration of recreation programs/facilities, and familiarity with computers, databases, inputting and generating reports, record keeping, and registration/HR applications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook) at a basic level and the ability to learn new technology.
  • Ability to review financial information and monitor expenditures.
  • Knowledge of safety systems, and is able to implement safety practices within programs and services.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Manitoba driver's License.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Police Information Check (Vulnerable Sector).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule the delivery of recreation programs and services.
  • Coordinate the selection, training and evaluation of related staff, program leaders and volunteers. Schedule and supervise staff, related to programs.
  • Develop/maintain program data systems.
  • Work in accordance with City and Departmental policies and guidelines, maintains financial and other information related programs.
  • Perform other duties associated with the position.
