Job summary

The City of Vancouver is seeking an Auxiliary/Casual Recreation Worker to support the Downtown Eastside in organizing arts, cultural, educational and sport recreation activities for residents with diverse interests and backgrounds.

The front-line role requires the ability to engage participants, lead trips, manage events and provide information on community services, while ensuring safety and reporting attendance as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 with related experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture is considered an asset.
• First Aid certification is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and participates in arts, cultural, educational and sport recreation programs.
• Promotes active participation and leads regular trips.
• Coordinates events and assists with setup and strike down.
• Provides information and referrals to patrons on community services.
• Assists with attendance tracking and reporting emergencies as needed.
