Job summary

Union Gospel Mission in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside is seeking an Outreach Worker (Temporary, Part‑Time). You will support community members through relationship-building, compassionate care, and practical assistance, connecting guests to housing, clothing, shelter and recovery resources.

The role emphasizes dignity, respect, and working with diverse populations. Schedule Fri–Sun 1:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. Wage range $26.26–$28.70/hour; 22.5 hours/week; ending May 1, 2027.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of related work experience is required.
• Related post-secondary education preferred.
• Experience in a community organization or ministry is advantageous.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong interpersonal skills and resilience in crisis settings.

Responsibilities

• Model Christ in word and deed and provide compassionate support to community members.
• Connect guests to housing, clothing, shelter and recovery resources.
• Build trusting relationships and encourage exploration of community supports.
• Coordinate with other agencies and refer individuals to appropriate services.
• Assist with administrative tasks, maintain logs and records.
• Participate in team meetings, training and spiritual development.
