Job summary

FIRST UNITED is a Vancouver charity serving the DTES community for 140 years, offering low-barrier services to those in need. Reporting to the Manager of Community Services, the casual on-call Program Support Worker will assist at the help desk, meals, and program activations, delivering respectful, compassionate support to clients and volunteers.

The role emphasizes harm reduction, data entry, and coordination with food and staff teams to keep services accessible and welcoming for the community.

Qualifications

• College/Associate’s Degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum 2 years’ reception and/or administrative experience in a computerized office environment.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with the DTES community in a direct service capacity.
• A minimum of 1-year continuous sobriety is strongly suggested.
• Additional relevant post-secondary skills/training an asset.

Responsibilities

• Community Help Desk duties: greeting clients, referrals, and information sharing.
• Program Support: data-entry, reports, and administrative tasks.
• Community Meal Program: assist with meal service and dining hall operations.
• In-kind Donations: pickup and delivery of donations and donor meetings.
• Tax Program: assist with CVITP intakes and data entry.
• Community Engagement: facilitate social inclusion activities and events.
