Job summary

Matrec, a division of GFL, seeks a DZ Driver/Front-End in Ottawa (Cornwall base preferred). The role drives daily routes, handles front-end bins, and ensures safety and customer service excellence in waste collection and processing operations.

Requires DZ experience (5 years preferred), plus 1–2 years in waste. Strong communication and safety focus are essential for success in a dynamic, growth-oriented team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; post-secondary courses or diploma considered an asset.
• 1–2 years driving experience in the waste industry.
• 5 years of DZ driving experience preferred.
• Experience with Front-End vehicles preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and customer-service skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned daily routes safely and in a timely manner.
• Drive to customer sites, set, lift, and empty bins into the front-end vehicle, and return bins to original location.
• Transfer waste to the appropriate transfer station, landfill, or drop-off location, following all facility protocols.
• Satisfy customer service needs in accordance with established policies.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (may require climbing truck ladder).
• Perform driver check-ins and complete accurate daily paperwork at the end of the day.
• Maintain communication with operations management and report any issues.
• All other related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Job Requirements:

• Completion of high school (post‑secondary courses or diploma considered an asset);
• 1–2 years of driving experience in the waste industry;

• Knowledge of the industry is an asset;
