Job summary

Matrec, a division of GFL, is hiring a full-time DZ Driver to support our Ottawa area routes, ideally based in Cornwall. The driver will collect waste safely, provide quality customer service, and operate front-end collection equipment.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork as part of a growing North American environmental solutions company.

Qualifications

• Must have completed high school; post-secondary is an asset.
• 1–2 years of driving experience in waste; 5 years in a DZ vehicle preferred.
• Experience with Front-End vehicles is an asset.
• Strong communication and customer service skills required.
• Ability to multi-task and work safely.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily routes safely and on time.
• Drive to customer sites, load/unload bins into the front-end vehicle, and return bins.
• Transfer waste to transfer stations or landfills per protocols.
• Maintain daily driver paperwork and pre/post-trip inspections.
• Report issues to operations management and follow safety rules.

Job Summary

Job Requirements

• Completion of high school (post-secondary courses or diploma considered an asset);
• 1–2 years of driving experience in the waste industry;
• 5 years of driving experience in a DZ vehicle (preferred);
• Experience with Front-End vehicles (preferred);
• Knowledge of the industry is an asset;
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer focus skills;
• Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and work safely.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned daily routes safely and in a timely manner.
• Drive to customer sites, set, lift, and empty bins into front-end vehicle, and return bins to original location.
• Transfer waste to the appropriate transfer station, landfill, or drop-off location, following all facility protocols.
• Satisfy customer service needs in accordance with established policies.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (may require climbing truck ladder to inspect loads).
• Perform driver check-ins and complete accurate daily paperwork at the end of the day.
• Maintain communication with operations management and report any issues.
• All other related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
