GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking reliable Residential Drivers to safely operate heavy collection equipment on residential routes in Oshawa and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (DZ or AZ) with a clean abstract and CVOR.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience or completion of accredited truck driving school.
• Ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to company safety standards.
• Strong attendance and flexibility for early morning starts and overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Rear Pack truck along assigned residential routes.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and complete required logs and paperwork.
• Collect residential waste and recycling materials following route schedules and safety protocols.
• Operate hydraulic and compaction systems correctly to prevent equipment damage.
• Report any mechanical issues, hazards, or incidents to management.
• Maintain high route productivity, customer service, and vehicle cleanliness.

Requirements

• Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (DZ or AZ) with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR.
• Driving Experience: Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience (or completion of an accredited truck driving school program).
• Equipment Operation : Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Safety Commitment : Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.
• Reliability : Strong attendance record and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and operational overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Safe Fleet Operation : Safely operate a Rear Pack truck along assigned residential routes.
• Safety Inspections : Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.
• Curbside Collection : Collect residential waste and recycling materials in strict accordance with route schedules and corporate safety protocols.
• System Operations : Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Reporting & Maintenance : Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Service Quality : Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Regulatory Compliance : Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
• Team Collaboration : Work closely with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
