Job summary

Total Directional Services, LLC in Calgary, AB, is seeking an Electronics Soldering & Assembly Technician to support soldering, cable and wire harness assembly, and mechanical assembly of electronic systems used in downhole drilling tools in a production-focused setting.

The role emphasizes clean builds, documentation in Excel/Word with photos and notes, independent work with minimal supervision, and adherence to IPC-A-610 or IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards; experience with drill presses and torque

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on soldering experience, oilfield/downhole preferred.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams for builds.
• Independent work style with minimal supervision.
• Strong documentation skills (Excel/Word, photos, notes).
• Familiarity with ESD-safe handling and clean assembly practices.
• IPC-A-610 or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications or training.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and wire cable and wire harnesses from diagrams.
• Maintain build documentation and photos for traceability.
• Perform precision soldering for prototype and low-volume builds.
• Complete mechanical assembly including torque control and sealing.
• Support basic testing and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of build quality and workflow.
