Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Group seeks a service/installation technician for our doors and docks portfolio in Canada. You will lead crews or work independently to install, troubleshoot, and repair commercial/industrial doors and related opening systems while ensuring quality and safety on each site.

The role involves outdoor work in varying weather, lifting and climbing to elevated areas, and regular travel to customer sites.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience with rolling/sectional doors and dock levelers.
  • Welding and/or electrical experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Must pass background check.
  • Ability to travel overnight and on weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Service and install sectional doors, rolling doors, dock equipment, and related systems.
  • Repair and troubleshoot defective equipment.
  • Maintain truck stock and company vehicle.
  • Accurate timekeeping and complete job assignments.
  • Interact with customers, end-users, and contractors professionally.
  • Apply safety policies and participate in continuous improvement.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance.

Job description

We are innovative, customer-centric, professional, and our goal is to provide exceptional service for our customers. This role is pivotal as the primary support for commercial/industrial customers, responsible for service and installation of Doors and Docks in todays every-changing market.

We have a solid backlog of work and are looking for the right team members to join our crew! Our business is growing and opportunities to Install and Service many different types and makes of equipment are plentiful! In this role you will lead a crew at times or work alone, in the areas of installing, troubleshooting and repairing commercial/industrial doors, door opening systems, gate opening systems and dock leveling systems. This position has working conditions that expose you to various weather conditions and may require you to work in a dirty, dusty, oily environment.

Responsibilities
  • Service and install various products, including sectional doors, rolling doors, drop testing fire doors, vehicle restraints, impact doors, automated entrances, man doors, gates and loading dock equipment.
  • Repair and troubleshoot defective equipment.
  • Maintaining proper truck stock, inventory, and company vehicle.
  • Responsible for accurate timekeeping; detailing job numbers, travel time, labeling equipment, and completing job assignments timely.
  • Interact with customers, end-users, and general contractors courteously and professionally.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address diverse door and site requirements.
  • Performing routine preventative maintenance.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote the company’s operational visions, values, and goals.
  • Participate in training or other team activities to support ongoing continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or his/her designate.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years experience in rolling, high speed, sectional, dock levelers, automated entrances, man doors, gates and mega door preferred but contact us if you have some or most of the above.
  • Welding and/or electrical experience is a plus.
  • Travel required (overnight, weekends, on call)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to handle a physical workload.
  • Proficient with power tools.
  • Independent work capability.
  • Service-oriented individual with effective written/verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Adaptability to a changing work environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass background check
  • Basic math skills.
