Job summary

Midland Transport is seeking a Dock Supervisor to base at the Dartmouth Terminal. The role oversees the dock plan, assigns trailers, liaises with drivers, and prioritizes freight while steering door walks.

The candidate will lead the dock team, manage safety, and ensure operational efficiency. Requirements include 5–8+ years in dock operations, knowledge of dock procedures, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–8+ years of experience in dock operations.
  • Knowledge of dock operations and procedures.
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage direct reports to achieve or exceed budgeted performance and develop freight handlers.
  • Set departure times for trailers, cubing goals, re-weigh goals, and OS&D claim control.
  • Foster safe work environment and ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Develop and coach indirect reports at the Terminal.
  • Ensure shifts are staffed efficiently and effectively.

Midland Transport is currently seeking a Dock Supervisor to be based at our Dartmouth Terminal. Dock Supervisor is in charge of executing the dock plan developed by managers by assigning trailers, liaising with drivers and ensuring trailer functionality while prioritizing freight and assigning loads and door walks.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing direct reports to achieve or exceed budgeted performance Also, responsible for the development of freight handlers
  • Accountable for departure times for trailers to other terminals, cubing goals, re-weigh goals, & OS&D Claim Control.
  • Responsible for the achievement of employee engagement within the dock group, and for demonstrating excellent leadership characteristics and the Irving Values.
  • Responsible for employee safety and fostering a safe work environment that adheres to the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Accountable for the development and coaching of indirect reports at the Terminal.
  • Responsible for ensuring all shifts are staffed efficiently and effectively
Qualifications
  • Secondary School, Trade Certification or College Diploma an asset
  • 5 -8+ years of experience
  • Knowledge of dock operations and procedures.
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office
